Lightblue Online specialises in Protection planning. We are part of a financial planning business that is focused on helping you understand and plan for your financial future.

This document provides details about our services to you and why we don’t charge, so it’s important that you read it fully. If there is something you don’t understand please ask us to explain it.


1. Our services


Whatever financial decisions you have to make, the first step towards making the right decisions is to establish a clear understanding of your financial needs.


People seek protection advice for many different reasons so it’s important that we understand exactly who you are and what you want to achieve. At our first meeting we’ll gather information about you to help define your needs and priorities.


The service we provide is for Protection planning.


Most of us want to protect the things that are important to us, our family, business and quality of life. Protection planning can help to provide peace of mind in the event of your income changing due to unexpected events. We can help you plan for the best way to protect you, your family or your business.


We’ll only start work once we have spoken. We’ll then send you a copy of our Client Agreement – Protection (terms and conditions) which will set out the services we have agreed to provide you free of charge.


2. Our advice


We offer independent protection advice. We are an insurance intermediary and will provide advice which is based on a fair and personal analysis of the market matched to your needs. This means that we consider a wide range of protection strategies and products. We are constantly reviewing the market to ensure that the services and products we offer are appropriate for our clients.

If, either now or sometime in the future, you require additional financial advice we can refer you to our parent company who can recommend independent mortgage, bridging loan, investment and pension strategies and products to you. Again, these will be selected based on your personal circumstances, financial goals and objectives.


They’ll consider a number of factors, including the services you need, the cost of investing, how much risk you are prepared to accept in an investment product and how much of a drop in its value you could withstand.

3. Charges


We do not charge a fee for the service we provide.


However, Lightblue Online will receive a commission from the insurance company. This payment covers our professional services, compliance costs and our on-going support. Commission is provided on an indemnity basis on the assumption a policy remains in force for the full indemnity period. Should a policy be cancelled within a period set by the Insurer all or some of the fee will be clawed back from us by the Insurer. At no point will you be charged by us or the Insurer for the advice nor will you ever be responsible for any monies clawed back by the Insurer.


The commission LightBlue Online receives will be detailed in any quotes we provide you and in the Suitability Letter we will issue to you following our recommendation. This letter details your objectives, our recommendation and how it meets your objectives.


4. Regulation


Lightblue Online LLP is an appointed representative of Lightblue UK Ltd, 4 Southbourne Grove, Westcliff on Sea, Essex, SS0 9UR is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (“FCA”), 25 The North Colonnade, Canary Wharf, London, E14 5HS. Our Financial Services Register number is 419415.

5. The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)


We are covered by the FSCS. You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if we cannot meet our obligations. Insurance advising and arranging is covered for 90% of the claim, without any upper limit.
